FAUAA Honors 2016 Outstanding Young Owls Award Recipients

The FAU Alumni Association recently hosted its third annual Outstanding Young Owls Ceremony & Reception to honor exceptional young alumni.

The ���˵�һ��ɫ���� Alumni Association recently hosted its third annual Outstanding Young Owls (OYOs) Ceremony & Reception to honor exceptional young alumni at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.

The OYOs recognize remarkable alumni under the age of 40 from eight of FAU’s colleges for their personal and professional accomplishments. These individuals serve as exemplary representatives of the academic and personal development ideals of FAU.

“We are so proud of this year’s OYO award recipients,” said Pat Breman, interim assistant vice president of alumni relations at FAU. “I am confident that these Owls will continue to make considerable achievements in their fields.”

The OYOs’ recipients for 2016 are as follows:

• Isabelle Clérié, B.A. ’09, M.N.M. ’11, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters – Clériécurrently works to develop a Haitian impact investment fund that can provide much needed cheap capital to young entrepreneurs, small businesses and rural farmers. After graduate school at FAU, Clérié returned to Haiti as the director of an organization that works with young Haitian entrepreneurs.
• Darrel Thomas, B.B.A. ’03, College of Business – Thomas is the assistant city manager and chief operating officer for the City of Weston. He serves as a member of the Treasury and Investment Management Committee of the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. Thomas is also a member of the Investment Advisory Committee of the Florida League of Cities.
• Lisa M. Wulf, M.U.R.P. ’07, College for Design and Social Inquiry – Wulf is the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Right Management, Florida/Caribbean. She is on the boards of the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida and the Florida Diversity Council. 
• Matt O’ Brien, B.A.E. ’08, College of Education – O’Brien is currently an area supervisor for the Toronto Blue Jays. A former FAU baseball player, he was drafted to the Detroit Tigers in 2004. He was a New York Penn League All-Star in 2006, Midwest League Champion in 2006 and 2007, and Florida State League All-Star in 2008.
• Richard J. Viens, B.S.E.E. ’99, College of Engineering and Computer Science – Viens is the chief financial officer at Delivery Dudes. Currently, Viens serves on the boards for the Bethesda Hospital Foundation and Leadership Palm Beach County.
• Tyler S. Stubbs, B.A. ’08, Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College – Stubbs founded his own law office in August to pursue his dream of owning and operating a small business in Florida. He has served as an adjunct professor at George Mason School of Law since 2012 and he is currently a board member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Nassau County.
• Sarah Siebert, R.N., C.R.R.N., B.S.N. ’10, M.S.N. ’13, Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing – Siebert is the director of nursing at Pinecrest Rehabilitation at Delray Medical Center, specializing in stroke and spinal cord injury. In addition to serving as chair of the CRRN Council for Tenet Rehabilitation and Hospital Side Effects Improvement, Seibert is the supervising director of Pinecrest Customer Service Council. She is a member of the Patient Experience Council, Environment of Care Committee, and Tenet Rehabilitation Nursing Committee.
• Jodie Gless, M.S. ’07, Charles E. Schmidt College of Science – Gless is the wildlife manager at NextEra Energy, Inc., where she works as a wildlife biologist and manages the protected species programs related to wind, solar, nuclear and fossil fuel technologies and gas infrastructure. Gless is a member of the Avian Power Line Interaction Committee and chair of the Renewable Energy Committee. She is also a board member of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center and serves as chair of the Research and Rehabilitation Committee. Gless is a member of the Avian Solar Working Group and the Manatee Forum.
